HMS Belfast
HMS Belfast is a 6-inch cruiser, designed for the protection of trade, for offensive action, and as a powerful support for amphibious operations. HMS Belfast served throughout the Second World War, playing a leading part in the destruction of the battle cruiser Scharnhorst, and also the Normandy Landings. In service with the Royal Navy until 1965, she was saved for the nation in 1971 as a unique reminder of Britain's naval heritage and has been transformed into a stunning museum.
Family activities onboard the HMS Belfast are taking place on the last weekend of every month. There are two drop-in sessions a day - 11:00-13:00 and 14:00-16:00. Simply jump aboard and have some fun!
Exciting family events this season include:
The Battle of North Cape (28 - 29 Dec 2007)
This Christmas onboard HMS Belfast, professional actors and a team of living history specialists will stage an interactive six-scene play to put into context this hard-fought naval engagement.
